Key Features of the mui Calm Sleep Platform
1. Wearable-less, Phone-free Sleep Sensing: Unlike conventional wearable sleep trackers, mui Lab’s Calm Sleep Platform requires no wearables or smartphone usage before bedtime. The natural-wood mui Board acts as a bedroom hub, quietly detecting sleep states via millimeter-wave sensing and managing functions such as alarms—seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
2. Human-centered sleep support: Based on past sleep patterns, daily rhythms, and a user’s current state of being, the mui Board provides gentle pre-sleep stretch guidance and adjusts lighting from bedtime until it’s time to wake-up. Without relying on sleep scores or similarly stressful metrics, mui Calm Sleep Platform can help users build healthier sleep patterns.
3. A low-burden approach to “restoring” sleep: Supervised by sleep specialist Dr. Ryutaro Shirahama, Calm Sleep Platform respects user privacy while providing a range of sleep-related experiences, reframing sleep as something to manage, but as something that can gently restore.
mui Lab is developing the Calm Sleep Platform in technical collaboration with a U.S. company with advanced expertise in sleep technology aiming for commercial launch around late 2026—and eventually integrating into the mui Board’s product experience. At CES2026, a hands-on demo will let visitors intuitively experience the calm, human-centered sleep concept behind the platform.
mui Lab’s Approach to “Spatial AI”
As AI increasingly moves into the physical environment, mui Lab focuses not only on automation, but on harmony between people and technology. mui Lab’s approach, “Spatial AI,” uses natural human gestures as the interface, allowing the environment to sense and adjust itself comfortably.
