LAS VEGAS (Jan. 7, 2024) — At CES® Unveiled today, mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based calm technology startup, will unveil the market-ready “mui Board Gen 2,” the Matter controller that lets users create a restorative and low-carbon home environment through its intrinsically comforting natural wood interface. Built on the success of the original mui Board launched in 2019, “mui Board Gen 2” brings carbon footprint reduction into focus as a vital element of family wellness. It provides a suite of energy controls that will include demand-response support, daily home energy use analysis, automatic appliance adjustments to balance personal comfort versus carbon load (following future system updates), and the currently available thermostat and window-covering adjustments.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The 41-day Kickstarter campaign launching tomorrow, Jan. 8, will support the production of this 2024 CES Innovation Award-winning interface for anticipated December 2024 shipping.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Scheduled for release in 2023, “mui Board 2nd Gen” is the Matter-ready version of the company’s signature wooden interface, “mui Board,” which is designed to keep technology out of users’ consciousness to prevent distraction and information overload. The CES 2022 Innovation Award-winning platform is Matter-ready; will enable Amazon’s Alexa to provide visual interfacing. mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based IoT design startup, will showcase its “muiPlatform,” which can transform any existing smart home devices into “calmer” ones that feel more natural and effortless to use.The Matter-ready platform enables companies to either have their own calm products (be they a display, speaker or smart home device) designed from scratch, or use mui’s flagship wooden smart device control hub to deliver their services.

During CES, mui Lab will introduce the use of the mui hub board as a new calm, visual interface for Amazon’s Alexa. The “mui Platform” won the CES 2022 Innovation Award in the Smart Home category –the second time mui Lab has been awarded this honor following its 2019 win.

While modern technology benefits humans in many ways, it can also cause distraction and information overload. The “mui Platform” is a system that filters “noise” out of incoming information and passes through only what fits a minimalistic display created with mui Lab’s naturalistic UX design technology. “Our platform takes a less-is-more approach to technology to create a ‘breathing room’ in users’ minds, so technology will feel like a truly natural part of human life,” mui Lab CEO Kaz Oki said. “We believe the technology is capable of bringing out the humanness of human life and making people happier. The mui Board interface introduces new ways for consumer to interact with technology. The interface is a version of the “mui Board,” the company’s award-winning smart-home control hub made with natural wood. When users speak to Alexa, the interface executes their voice commands silently via a minimalistic visual display (e.g., setting a timer) and provides haptic control (e.g., a control bar) to let users enjoy technological assistance in a brand-new “calm” and peaceful manner.

At the CES 2022 (Jan. 5-8), mui Lab has introduced a new calm, visual interface that is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvQoEpfR9ac" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Matter-ready</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTQjnyqaY2g" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">works with Alexa</a>. Also mui Lab has been named as CES® 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree for the newly released mui platform which can turn any IoT devices and systems into “calmer” ones.
