LAS VEGAS (Jan. 7, 2024) — At CES® Unveiled today, mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based calm technology startup, will unveil the market-ready “mui Board Gen 2,” the Matter controller that lets users create a restorative and low-carbon home environment through its intrinsically comforting natural wood interface. Built on the success of the original mui Board launched in 2019, “mui Board Gen 2” brings carbon footprint reduction into focus as a vital element of family wellness. It provides a suite of energy controls that will include demand-response support, daily home energy use analysis, automatic appliance adjustments to balance personal comfort versus carbon load (following future system updates), and the currently available thermostat and window-covering adjustments.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The CES 2022 Innovation Award-winning platform is Matter-ready; will enable Amazon’s Alexa to provide visual interfacing. mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based IoT design startup, will showcase its “muiPlatform,” which can transform any existing smart home devices into “calmer” ones that feel more natural and effortless to use.The Matter-ready platform enables companies to either have their own calm products (be they a display, speaker or smart home device) designed from scratch, or use mui’s flagship wooden smart device control hub to deliver their services.

During CES, mui Lab will introduce the use of the mui hub board as a new calm, visual interface for Amazon’s Alexa. The “mui Platform” won the CES 2022 Innovation Award in the Smart Home category –the second time mui Lab has been awarded this honor following its 2019 win.

While modern technology benefits humans in many ways, it can also cause distraction and information overload. The “mui Platform” is a system that filters “noise” out of incoming information and passes through only what fits a minimalistic display created with mui Lab’s naturalistic UX design technology. “Our platform takes a less-is-more approach to technology to create a ‘breathing room’ in users’ minds, so technology will feel like a truly natural part of human life,” mui Lab CEO Kaz Oki said. “We believe the technology is capable of bringing out the humanness of human life and making people happier. 今回の共同研究では、放送コンテンツを、生活の流れの中で自然に届ける仕組みを検証しています。 たとえば、リビングに設置されたmuiボードが、天気や電力使用量などの暮らしに役立つ情報を表示する中で、ユーザーの関心に合った文字ニュースを表示します。文字ニュースにタッチすると、テレビに関連するニュース動画が映し出されます。さらに詳しく知りたい場合は、muiボードにキーワードを手書きで入力することで、関連動画を絞り込んで再生することも可能です。

この体験は、スマートホーム規格「Matter」と、放送とデバイスの連携規格「ハイブリッドキャストコネクト」を組み合わせた試作システムによって実現しています。&nbsp; ※この仕組みは、NHK技研との共同研究の一環として実装された仕組みであり、製品版のmuiボードでは現在ご利用いただけません。

mui Lab株式会社（京都府京都市、代表取締役社長 大木 和典、以下「mui Lab」）と米国のDSR Corporation（米国コロラド州デンバー、Founder &amp; CEO Anatoli Pechkov 以下「DSR」 ）は、業務提携を締結しました。この提携を通じてスマートホーム世界共通規格「Matter」と、国内で浸透している通信規格「ECHONET Lite」の双方に対応したスマートホームコントローラーを共同開発します。

mui Labはこれまで国内ハウスメーカーとの提携の元、ECHONET Liteに対応したスマートホーム向けのソリューションを提供してまいりました。 一方でDSRは組み込みやIoTソフトウェア業界のグローバルリーダーであり、Matterの策定・開発機関であるConnectivity Standards Alliance（CSA）の前身にあたるZigbee Allianceから規格策定に携わるなど、スマートホーム領域における通信技術に深く精通する企業でもあります。 現状ではECHONET LiteとMatterとの間に互換性がありませんが、今回の提携を通じてECHONET LiteとMatter両方の機器との通信ができるスマートホームコントローラーを共同で開発します。

mui Lab株式会社（京都府京都市、代表取締役社長　大木 和典、以下「mui Lab」）とSWITCHBOT株式会社（東京都渋谷区代表取締役　コネリー・リー、以下「SwitchBot」）は、2024年12月2日に業務提携に関するMOU（基本合意書）※1を締結しました。 両社の提携を通じて双方の技術を組み合わせたサービスを開発し、家庭向けエネルギーマネジメントサービスと事業者向けDR（デマンド・レスポンス）サービスへ参入します。 ※1：MOU（基本合意書）は、複数の企業や組織が協力して進めるプロジェクトの方向性や基本的なルールを確認し合う文書です。

両社のソフト、ハード、クラウド技術を結集したエネマネ/DRサービスの提供を推進

SwitchBotが持つスマートホーム/IoT技術とmui LabのHEMS技術を組み合わせることで、一般家庭が簡単かつ低コストに導入できるエネルギーマネジメントサービスと、電力・ガス会社向けのDRサービスの提供を2025年度中に開始します。一連のサービスの検証を進めた後に2026年以降に新電力市場参入の検討を開始します。 &nbsp; mui Labは家電の操作をはじめ、住宅内の温湿度表示や熱中症警戒アラート、室内見守りなどの機能を備えたスマートホーム対応アプリ「mui Kurashiアプリ」をエネルギー事業や住宅管理・賃貸事業者向けに提供してまいりました。国内でのスマートホーム事業で培ったノウハウが、200万以上の世帯にサービスを提供するSwitchBotの製品群に反映されることで国内トップクラスのエネマネサービスを目指します。

国内累計販売台数180万台を超えるスマートリモコン、SwitchBotハブシリーズの旗艦モデル「SwitchBot ハブ2」に、電力市場価格と連動した家電自動制御機能を試験導入します。 &nbsp; &nbsp;その後、家電自動制御機能の対象機器を拡充すると共に、節電に役立つ情報の提供や電力プラン切り替えに関するレコメンドなどの機能追加を予定しています。

エネルギー事業者向けにスマートホームとDRサービスを一体化したサービスを提供します。mui Labが持つ事業者向けDRサービスの知見と実績に、スマートホーム/IoTに強みを持つSwitchBotの技術が融合することで、機器制御型DRサービスの提供を予定しています。

mui Lab株式会社（京都府京都市、代表取締役社長　大木 和典、以下「mui Lab」）、小田急不動産株式会社（東京都渋谷区、取締役社長　五十嵐 秀、以下「小田急不動産」）は2024年4月22日に業務提携に合意したことをお知らせします。 両社の提携を通じて、2025年初夏より小田急不動産の分譲戸建住宅「LEAFIA」（リーフィア）に、mui Labが提供する「muiボード」とスマートフォン専用アプリ「mui Kurashiアプリ」が搭載されます。また今後、「穏やかで温かい家族の時間を育むこと」を目的とした、muiボードの新機能を二社共同で開発し、LEAFIAにお住まいのお客さまに先行リリースいたします。

親子共に多忙なファミリー世帯向けのコミュニケーション機能を共同開発。家族のウェルビーイングと住まいのDXが両立するスマートホームを実現！

今回の提携は、mui Labが提供するカーム・テクノロジーを、小田急不動産の持つ「重ねる時を、こころ豊かに」というLEAFIAのビジョンに融合させ、お客さまの暮らしの質を向上させることを目的としています。muiボードとmui Kurashiアプリを通じて、親子共に多忙な家族のコミュニケーション課題を解決し、家族が共に過ごす限られた時間の質を高め、家族の思い出が蓄積される空間づくりを支援し続けます。

1. 業務提携の背景と目的

muiボードとmui Kurashiアプリの搭載 2025年初夏より、小田急不動産が分譲開始するLEAFIAの戸建住宅において、muiボードとmui Kurashiアプリの搭載を開始します。これにより、LEAFIAのスマートホーム化を推進し、お客さまのウェルビーイングを実現します。muiボードは OTA（Over The Air）機能を活用し、入居後も常にアップデートが可能です。最新の機能を常に維持することで、長期に渡って安全かつ安定的なスマートホーム体験を実現します。

二社共同による新機能開発 家と地域、家と自然、住民と住民の間の「ゆるやかなつながり」をデザインする小田急不動産と、穏やかで温かい家族のための時間との調和をデザインするmui Lab両社の知見を生かしたmuiボードの新機能を今後開発していきます。 二社では開発に先立ち、子育て家族の日常を把握するためUXリサーチを実施しました。その結果、「日々の子供との時間が十分ではない」「夫婦間で家事育児の負担に偏りがある、子供も親が忙しいことを理解し自立したい・協力したいと思っている」「子供の成長に伴い、家族全員での時間が減っていき寂しい」といった、慌ただしく毎日を暮らす子育て家族の現状を把握することができました。二社は「どうすればLEAFIAがmuiボードで家族の問題を解決できそうか？」という視点で次の新機能開発方針を定めました。 <ul><li>仕事などで家の外にいても、「常に子供のことを気にかけている」という親の思いを、気持ちを込めて伝える機能</li><li>家族が自発的に家事に協力し、家事をタスクではなく、家族のコミュニケーションの時間にする機能</li><li>家族の思い出を記録し、ふとしたタイミングで思い出を家族皆で振り返ることができる機能</li></ul> 各機能の詳細については、リリースが決まり次第お知らせします。

By leveraging the strengths of each company's smart home related services−Mitsubishi Estate's "HOMETACT" and mui Lab's "mui Smart Living"−to realize a decarbonized society. Through this strong partnership, we will utilize cutting-edge technology to jointly develop solutions that promote the smart home, real estate, and energy services, thereby solving social issues and creating a more sustainable society.

mui Lab is a rare player in the smart home domain that has been quick to incorporate Matter and other cutting-edge technologies from around the world, while also steadily providing solutions in the energy management domain. In addition, we believe that our smart home service "HOMETACT" can not only make users' lives more convenient and comfortable, but can also be applied to efforts toward decarbonization, such as energy conservation and power saving. Social demands for decarbonization are increasing year by year, and we see great potential in the evolution of smart home technology and energy management technology when considering the future "way of living". Through this capital and business alliance with mui Lab, we will combine the strengths of both companies to more strongly promote efforts toward a decarbonized society in the housing field and strive to solve social issues.

We believe that in order to realize our vision, we need more partners, so we met and talked with the people of the Mitsubishi Estate HOMETACT team, and as we worked together on the project, we were able to see the potential of the smart home in Japan anew.
