Function as Family Communication Device You can hand-write your messages directly on the mui Board. In addition to written messages, you can exchange voice messages as well via the mui Board and its accompanying mobile app. These features help you stay emotionally connected with your family while away from home.&nbsp;

“muihaus.” is the house jointly developed by mui Lab and JIBUN HAUS. that uses technology that allows people’s lives to harmonize with nature and nurtures the time the family has while living there.&nbsp; We’ve produced a method of comfortable living where contemporary technology and people can maintain a proper distance and a place to live where people can feel their existence and connection to each other. The design takes into account that a house naturally dissolves into the town and the lives of the people living there become part of the landscape of the house.

What is muihaus. ?

mui Lab and JIBUN HAUS. have developed experiences related to everyday living by working in collaboration with “tamotsu ito architecture office” which creates buildings, spaces and towns with the “Simple Hybrid” concept. Its characteristic feature is that the four sides of a house are the same shape and one can circulate around the inner perimeter while enjoying big windows. This not only makes family bonding easier but allows one to be conscious about their connection with nature outside of the house. On the first floor, plumbing parts are collected in the inner part and set around a hallway, while windows and the dining kitchen are near the outer part so residents can feel the outdoor time changing while staying indoors.

A comfortable connection among family members can be felt in the room arrangement and design

The symbol of this house, “Height Marking in Wood” preserves children’s scribbles and the record of their height that family members can preserve as digital data, and in the future, family members can reminisce for long ago days or share their memories with others.&nbsp;Memories of the times the family spent together in the house will trigger communication after some family members leave and aid in connecting both the current and future times. This is our proposal of a new housing idea, matching the times, drawing a line with a home designed featuring the values of convenience and efficiency.&nbsp;

Preserving family memories with “Height Marking in Wood” and regenerating it at any time

The “mui Board” furnished in the “muihaus.” controls lighting, air conditioning, and speakers for music as a remote control, part of the featured smart home equipment. It is also connected to the Internet, allowing quick access to weather and calendar information as well as enabling one to listen to radio. The board is also furnished with functions for receiving seasonal poems that match the twenty-four seasonal divisions of the solar calendar and adjusting illumination to assist rising and sleeping with less burden. “mui Board” creates an environment of sleep and rising with its sound and time settings that enable residents to wake with an alarm timer and lighting that gradually becomes darker toward bed time to reduce stress on residents’ mind and body.

mui Labとジブンハウスは、「Simple Hybrid」(簡素さの混成)をコンセプトとして建築・空間・街をつくる伊藤維建築設計事務所とタッグを組み、暮らしにまつわる体験の設計を行いました。特徴的なのが、家の４面が同じ形で内周を回遊できる作りと、大きな窓。家族同士がつながりやすいだけでなく、外界の自然とのつながりも意識した設計となっています。１Fは水回りを内側に集約し、窓のついた廊下とダイニングキッチンを外側に持ってくることで、外部の時間や空間の変化を家の中にいながら感じられるような造りとなっています。

この家を象徴する「柱の記憶」は、家族が書き込んだ落書きや子どもの身長などをデジタルデータとして残し、未来で家族が思い出として懐かしんだり、共有したりできる仕組みになっています。家が建ち始めてから家族で過ごした時間の記憶は、将来家族が巣立った時、巣立った家族が戻ってきた時に、コミュニケーションのきっかけとなり、家族の今と、家族の未来を緩やかに繋いでいきます。利便性や効率性を重視して設計された家と一線を画す、時代に合った新しい形の家を提案しました。

「muihaus.」に備えられた「muiボード」は、スマートホーム機器と同じく、リモコンとして照明やエアコン、音楽スピーカーなどをコントロールする他、インターネットとつながり天気やカレンダー情報の入手、ラジオ視聴ができます。また、二十四節気に合わせて季節の詩が届く機能、自然に起床や就寝を促す光源調整を行う機能を備えています。音や時刻の設定により、無理なくゆったりとした起床を促す目覚ましタイマーや、設定した就寝時間に向けて徐々に暗くなる照明機能を備える「muiボード」が、心身のストレスを緩和する睡眠・起床環境を整えます。

This solution is a total package;&nbsp;capable of notifying consumers of power saving requests to providing rewards for participating in power-saving activites.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mui’s Demand Response system encourages power-saving behavior among households and low-voltage corporate customers—such as restaurants and retailers—but can also be used in a variety of other contexts. This systemcan be easily implemented at low cost and quick turnover time , while helping automate operational efficiency of power-saving campaigns. In addition, the service is linked to the "giftee Box," a digital gift service that allows users to freely choose from more than 1,000 different types of rewards for reaching power-saving goals, thus meeting a wide variety of needs.&nbsp;

“Cabin” is a product co-developed with Wacom, Inc. It is a “device” that acknowledges the presence of people and a device that stands still in the place of co-creation beyond time and space.&nbsp; In an environment where remote work has been accelerating, diminishing the border between home and office, this product pursues “How to relate with members in the same organization” and creates a place where workers can feel the accumulation of the presence of others and their thoughts.

What is Cabin ?

On the windows and exterior walls of Cabin, numerous dot-like stars are always displayed. They all express the data gathered by Cabin, and when one touches a star, it recreates the message in handwriting.&nbsp; Messages to Cabin can be sent from a mui Board set up at home or mui apps on your smartphone.&nbsp;A sent message is displayed on the “windows” or “exterior walls”, then disappears and becomes a star element in the sky.&nbsp;&nbsp; People cannot find out who sent them or from where or under what circumstances, but they can encounter the thoughts and ideas of peers through Cabin beyond time and place. Momentarily appearing messages may lead you to new ideas.

“Cabin” is intended to be installed in the branch offices of Wacom in Portland and Dusseldorf as well as Morioka Village which is currently being constructed. What we are looking for is not an intended symbol but a way of existence, incidentally individually swaying, playing off each other, popping up and scattering. 

Function of Cabin

When you look up and see numerous stars blinking through the trees, you may feel something alive&nbsp;and respectful in those stars. You may think about your friends, or you may start having fantasies. This product design resulted from our experience and desire for this to occur to people. For example, it faithfully recreates the lines erased by a person in wonder. That kind of very human phenomena is woven in the air and when they meet together, people may lead them to specific thoughts, or just wanting to be together. In the case of a real office, talking to somebody doesn’t necessarily have the purpose of inputting and outputting information, but could be an exchange coming from pure concern. We hope Cabin can express that kind of overflowing space in people’s minds, along with bold emotions and thoughts.&nbsp;

Thoughts from mui Lab

ワコムとの共同開発プロダクトである「キャビン」は、人の気配が集まる“小屋”であり、時と空間を超えて共創する場に佇む “装置”です。&nbsp; リモートワーク化が加速し、家とオフィスの境目がなくなってきた昨今の環境の中で「同じ組織のメンバー達がどのようにつながることができるか？」を追求し、社員の気配や思いの集積を感じることのできる場作りを行いました。

キャビンとは

キャビンの窓や外壁には、常に星空のように無数の点が表示されています。それらはすべて、過去にキャビンに集まってきたメッセージを表現しており、ひとつの星に触れるとそのメッセージが筆跡とともに再現されます。&nbsp; キャビンへのメッセージは、家に設置しているmuiボードや、ご自身のスマートフォンのmuiアプリから送ることができます。送られてきたメッセージは、キャビンの「窓」や「外壁」に表示され、やがて消えて星空を構成するひとつの星に変わります。&nbsp; いつどんな時に、誰が、どこから送ったメッセージかは分かりませんが、私たちはキャビンを通して、時と場所を超えて仲間の想いやアイデアに出会うことができます。もしかしたら、ふと現れたメッセージによって新たな発想につながることもあるかもしれません。

「キャビン」は、ワコムのポートランドやデュッセルドルフ支店、現在進行中の盛岡ビレッジにも搭載予定です。意図された象徴ではなく、揺蕩っているからこそ、ぶつかったりして偶発的にポップアップしていく、ぽつぽつと点在していく、そんなあり方を求めています。

キャビンの機能

木に点滅する無数の星を見た時に、まるで夜空を見上げて煌めく星たちに命や尊い何かを感じたりするように、無数の星を見ることで仲間に思いを馳せたり、空想を巡らすきっかけになることを願って体験をデザインしました。例えば人が迷って消した線なども忠実に再現されます。そういった人間くさい現象が揺蕩っていて、それに出会った時、何か特別な想いを持つかもしれないし、ただ寄り添いたいと思うかもしれない。オフィス（リアル）の場合、誰かに声をかけるのが必ずしもインプットやアウトプットだけが目的ではなく純粋に気遣いの交流だったりするように、人間的な余白や間といったもの、赤裸々な感情や思いも含めてキャビンで表現できたらと思っています。
