mui Lab to Unveil Market-Ready ‘mui Board Gen 2,’ Matter Hub That Turns Home into a Low-Carbon Family Sanctuary, at CES Unveiled 2024

Jan 5, 2024

Kickstarter campaign to launch tomorrow for the CES 2024 Innovation Award-winning calm interface.

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 7, 2024) — At CES® Unveiled today, mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based calm technology startup, will unveil the market-ready “mui Board Gen 2,” the Matter controller that lets users create a restorative and low-carbon home environment through its intrinsically comforting natural wood interface. Built on the success of the original mui Board launched in 2019, “mui Board Gen 2” brings carbon footprint reduction into focus as a vital element of family wellness. It provides a suite of energy controls that will include demand-response support, daily home energy use analysis, automatic appliance adjustments to balance personal comfort versus carbon load (following future system updates), and the currently available thermostat and window-covering adjustments.

The 41-day Kickstarter campaign launching tomorrow, Jan. 8, will support the production of this 2024 CES Innovation Award-winning interface for anticipated December 2024 shipping.

“Home energy management should not be another digital task that distracts you from what you are doing. The mui Board Gen 2 is designed to make carbon footprint control a calmer, truly effortless —  and even delightful and playful — experience for everyone,” said mui Lab CEO Kaz Oki. “Some advanced home energy management features will be immediately accessible for Gen 2 users in Japan, and we are actively seeking partnerships with U.S. utility companies to provide the same service to our global users. We hope that our Kickstarter campaign starting Jan. 8 will help rally together people who share mui’s vision of transitioning society into the era of calm technology in which ‘connected’ means humanness.”
